Anecdote-Incinerator

So after household chores, it was time to burn the dirt at the makeshift incinerator. Because I wanted to make sure everything burnt, I kept ‘mixing’ the dirt only to discover something rather unique. Deep down, there were still some parts that were intact- and they were not part of the dirt I had just placed in. They had been there and had witnessed fire over and over again. But inspite of that, inspite of the constant heat these materials faced, they remained as they were.

So it is with our world; as hot as the fire of corruption and evils are, there are still people who haven’t and wouldn’t flinch. As fiery as the fire may be, some people would still stand; stand for what is right. You too can join them; ‘The Untouched Ones’.

Anecdote- Flexible

I was in the lobby having serious fun, on my system of course (*geeky*). Good Internet access + unlimited bandwidth= Euphoric bliss.

A nurse coming from one of the wards missed a step. Her slipper made the regular odd sounds that were usually the intro to someone hitting the ground. You should have seen the I-just-saw-a-monster look on two of the nurses closest to her. A split second silence followed. The loud thud I was expecting never came. It happened that she regained balance. And then the comments followed “We would have killed a goat” one of them said apparently jokingly (not funny still).

Why were they scared of her falling so much? She was slightly advanced in age; her bones were fully formed and were strong. Any fall at this stage would’ve possibly meant a broken bone and perhaps a walking aid for the rest of her life. If it was a child in that same circumstance, their reactions and comments would have been quite different. That’s obviously because a child has a larger possibility of healing faster because the bones are more flexible.

An analogy is easily derived when we apply the same view to our thoughts. As we grow older, due to the plethora of events we’re faced with daily, our view of life becomes rigid. Even though there are benefits, its disadvantages are of concern. Our thoughts become lopsided and changes become extremely hard to implement.

Earth

Now even though the world is bigger than you a million times over, it rotates continuously; if it didn’t, up to half of the world’s land would be uninhabitable. It stays flexible. Flexibility doesn’t mean infringing on your morals just to conform. It means reinventing yourself as frequently as possible and holding your morals dear at the same time.

Don’t be afraid to question the norm; test some of the boundaries that are around you; don’t ever stop learning. Remaining flexible is the only way you can embrace change. And so that even if you fall, getting up would be much easier. Or better still you can avoid falling in its totality.

The Time

The Time

Remember the time you were so much in a fix that you prayed every day. Remember the time when a family member almost passed and you prayed “God please don’t let them die” and the prayer was answered. Remember the time when gloom and sadness filled your heart. You cried and prayed for it to pass and it did. Remember the time you almost failed that paper, you prayed so hard. You went to church and did all the good things you know God loves and you passed. Remember how hard you prayed for that job which you got eventually. Remember how well you prayed for your missing rib that you found shortly after.

Now that everything is alright and you’re through the storm, what are you doing?

From the time past, the enemy has learnt a lesson; persecute them and they’ll run to their Father and He will answer. And so now he doesn’t bother pounding our hearts with heaviness. Our families are in great health. All the basic necessities are been taken care of.  Our pockets are bulging with the cash there in and so we’ve unanimously decided that a 2 minute prayer is more than enough to guide us through the day! We’ve decided that fasting is extreme (na me kill Jesus?- Did I kill Jesus?). We’ve decided that we could miss some of those programs we wouldn’t dare to before. But if only we cast your mind back, we’ll remember that time when we even prayed inwards, read our bibles almost every time even at odd places. Now it appears that time is gone. Our enemy is keeping us busy daily; clouding our minds with business deals, school work, legit things etc so that the link to our Source becomes severed eventually. In the end, our first name becomes LUKE and our last? WARM.

If you’re reading this, we can still change the trend. Com’on we don’t have to wait until something tragic happens. Spend time in God’s presence praying, praising, thanking… preferably right now and please not for 2 minutes.
