THE Flight Parable

I was privileged to be aboard a plane recently and as we ascended, I began to think of my heart’s desires. Then He spoke,“Will you trust me”? I guess you know who it was. Please permit me to explain the details of the flight.

The pilot welcomed us aboard the airplane and introduced himself and the crew members. The pilot explained that we would be ascending up to about 35,000 feet; then he continued with giving the latitude and longitude. He said we would experience some turbulence which was normal but we should be calm. He gave the time of our landing. As usual all phones were asked to be switched off according to the laws so that it wouldn’t interrupt connection between the plane and the tower. Despite that some still left their phones on. The journey began and as we ascended the woman beside me nearly crushed my ulna – she was so scared, terrified as a matter of fact. She got me almost scared for a while but then I realized I had done this before so there was no need. I removed my arm systematically to allow the arm rest take my place. While in the air, I had the duty of answering questions posed to me by those beside me. I continuously assured them that nothing unusual was going on. I saw the beautiful clouds all having distinct shapes and in different sizes. Everything looked so small including mountains. As a matter of fact, I couldn’t even recognize a single mountain. Sometimes, we had to descend slightly and the feeling was nauseous and tense. We experienced the expected turbulences. We arrived safely and everyone alighted.

That same voice in the first paragraph related the whole flight to life. At the time of writing this, I’m still being taught and shown things as this note is not something I thought about. Here goes:

The pilot is God and he has introduced himself to us (Rev 1:8). He has told us the Trinity and his angels are going to be with us throughout the journey. They that know their God shall fly like eagles Is (40:31). God says we should follow him but we will face many trials but should be glad still (1 pet 1:6). Those phones are distractions, worldly desires, things that can weaken the link and cause the journey to be tougher than it should be. Yet some still look behind after giving their life to him (Jeremiah 11:8). Even after his assurance that he is with us and will never leave us some are still afraid (Deut 31:8). Nevertheless, we are to help and encourage those who are afraid and help in any way we can (Jas 5:16). Remember the mountains (problems) didn’t really disappear; it just became insignificant because I was flying.
There may be times when it looks like your life is experiencing turbulence. He is still the pilot. He is ever beside, guiding and leading you the right way. Finally, He said we would get to our final destination- heaven.I know the plans I have for you, plans of good and not of evil but to give you an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11)

If you want to fly high and right, fly with God…
