The Mind

Nothing describes the mind like the above image.

The mind is like that rope being pulled by two opposing forces; ying and yang, good and evil, wisdom and foolishness, humility and pride. And every action you take is a step closer to one of these forces. Stagnancy is a myth, nothing ever remains exactly the same. It either depreciates or appreciates sometimes too subtle to note.

The moment you stop learning, you start unlearning. As a matter of fact, while you’re learning, there are some things you unlearn in the process, talk less of when you choose not to learn.

You still have doubts about how the mind works? Check out this profound bible passage Rom 12:2

But be ye transformed by the renewal of your mind.

Renewal is defined as an act of renewing. It is a continuous process; never ending. The reason behind this passage is because of the fact that our minds are never stagnant. By default they it always tends to go left (the wrong way). It always tends to do the stupid and foolish things. So therefore it is important you continuously teach it and when you upgrade it with knowledge, you move towards the right (the right way).

How can you renew your mind you may ask?

They are just below;

  • Study God’s word; the Bible and act accordingly
  • Study helpful materials in your field
  • Learn from people’s experiences

What Do You Want?

It’s funny how some of us decide to live our lives. We desire ‘A’ and yet go about doing everything that will ensure we don’t get it

For the ladies, you take pictures with your hips, boobs and butt as the key point of your every picture. Some also add the lips too; lips that has been doused with a huge amount of paint lipstick. But when you get objectified, you get angry and say stuff like “men are pervs”. The fact is this; guys like the boobs and butt BUT it’s not the kind of like you want. It’s a hit and run, ruff and tumble kind of relationship that you’re sure to witness. Most guys have erotic thoughts and for them you fit the bill; nothing more.

Just as there are wife materials, there are also one-night materials too. You don’t have to be in the latter category. Find your purpose, write a vision and run with it (It is not easy but it is possible). And please, marrying a rich man doesn’t count as a vision.

For guys, you can’t keep taking pictures of you in different exotic cars, or with different popular people, or in exclusive events and later on start screaming that “women are only after your money”. You see the next voluptuous lady and you lose control almost immediately. You bare your soul to her almost instantly and come back in few months lamenting how “women are wicked”.

Please understand, that my mission is not to condemn you, i’m simply not qualified as I am not without foolish errors and misgivings. I write to show you a view you possibly never knew existed or simply ignored.

In general, people come after you based on what you advertise most. And so if you keep attracting the same kind of people; people you don’t desire; you may have to look inward and make necessary changes.

But then again, we just hate truth and would rather believe a lie. It’s the only reason why a politician would read you promises of a lifetime he has planned for 4 years. The manifesto period turns into a case of “who can lie most”? Nigeria’s problems cannot be solved in 4 years because it is a deep rooted one in our minds that we must be willing to eradicate. Forgive my digression, I just had to go there.

Our problem is our mindset. We believe in the wrong things for the wrong reasons based on sentimental notions we have harbored for donkey years.

But not me, not anymore. I have decided to retrace my steps and follow the path less travelled. Would you join me?

Creating Miracles

“Rather than expect a Moses to come and part the red sea, we would build bridges and make our miracles”- Jean Liedkta

The saying above describes the average thinking pattern of the developed world. They are the proactive individuals, always seeking to find a solution to their problems.

A sharp contrast can be found in Africa where we pray to God to magically put food on our table (when we can) among other weird and unrealistic requests.

Let’s cast our minds backs to centuries ago;

While some were obsessed about going to the herbalist to view a 15 minutes trailer of their loved ones/enemies at untold costs, some decided to dedicate themselves to learning to ensure they could have an unlimited view of whoever they desired.

While some of us were content with holding vigils for the postman to safely deliver  their messages to loved ones, others were tired of the long time and decided to create a system that will make delivery of mails possible in seconds.

And presently, while some others are looking for ways to make lives and living better, others are praying endlessly (without adding commensurate action) that the world and their lives would be better.

While some are taking insurance on things that matter to them, others are saying that they don’t need it because God protects them.

You must have heard that history repeats itself. They are in for a shocker. Even though God can protect from all forms of harm, I think He expects that we take necessary actions in our interest instead of abdicating all our responsibility to him

We keep having unending vigils praying about the state of the nation. As if God would send another saviour to save us. No wonder we believed the saviour propaganda of the current president. Now we know better.
Newsflash: God would not send anyone to save us. We must task ourselves into being the saviours that this country and Africa as a whole so desperately needs.

I fear that there would be a lot of chastisement at judgement because God will ask why we achieved little to nothing when we were blessed with innumerable resources.

Yes I believe in the power of God, miracles and prayer but I also believe that locking your door and praying all day and night for food (when you can take a step in the right direction) will most likely leave you dead.

We have prayed enough. Can we begin building our bridges already?

A Profound Faith Illustration

“I am told that years ago a boat was upset above the falls of Niagara, and two men were being carried down the current, when persons on the shore managed to float a rope out to them, which rope was seized by them both.

One of them held fast to it and was safely drawn to the bank; but the other, seeing a great log come floating by, unwisely let go the rope and clung to the log, for it was the bigger thing of the two, and apparently better to cling to. Alas! the log with the man on it went right over the vast abyss, because there was no union between the log and the shore.

The size of the log was no benefit to him who grasped it; it needed a connection with the shore to produce safety. So when a man trusts to his works, or to sacraments, or to anything of that sort, he will not be saved, because there is no junction between him and Christ; but faith, though it may seem to be like a slender cord, is in the hands of the great God on the shore side; infinite power pulls in the connecting line, and thus draws the man from destruction. Oh the blessedness of faith, because it unites us to God!”

How God works

Since God can do any and everything, he could have made the Israelites fly over the red sea. It wouldn’t have been too hard for Him. Jer 32:27
27 “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for me?

He could have sent an angel to smite Goliath or better yet just send a little bolt of lightning to meet Him.
He could have crushed the walls of Jericho without the Israelites moving a muscle.
He could have Joseph the prime minister of Egypt in one day without him having to go to prison. He could have influenced Pharoah to appoint Joseph without Joseph having to go through the prison. He could have appeared to him and said; appoint Joseph or DIE! after all He is God, who can question his modus operandi? You? Me?

I’ve observed most of God’s wonders involve us, our actions, our skills, our attitudes.

Moses used the rod in his hands (as instructed by God) to split the red sea.
David used the stones in his bag to take down Goliath.
Joseph maintained a great attitude, decided not to compromise and served to the best of his ability.
Elisha parted the sea with a rod.

What God is going to use to perform great wonders in your life is already in your possession.

What do you have in your hands? Use it
