Leaving Everything

Reading the book, Driven by Eternity by John Bevere, I was drawn to “If anyone intends to come after Me, let him deny himself [forget, ignore, disown, and lose sight of himself and his own interests] and take up his cross, and [joining Me as a disciple and siding with My party] follow with Me [continually, cleaving steadfastly to Me]. Matt 16:24

I ask myself, what is the essence of setting goals or even dreaming about the things we want ?
No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him 2 Timothy 2:4

Am I a soldier? Oh yes look up Ephesians 6:18

You may say “For he will give us the desires of our heart” Ps 37:4 but if we indeed obey Him, then our desire would be to please Him

Matt 7:21- we must do the will of God to make heaven.

The will of God is not morality. Anyone can be moral without knowing God or Jesus. It is obeying Him step by step.

Remember the moral rich man? Matt 9:21 Jesus told him to sell everything and come and follow Him. Do you catch it? Do you get it? The will of God is “different” for all of us

Trust Issues???

Are you tired of trusting people?

Have they let you down more times than you can count ?

Maybe it’s because you put so much trust in them. People fail not because they’re wicked but because they’re human. They have their desires, fears and shortcomings.

Take a look at Jeremiah 17:5-8

Thus says the LORD:

5 “Cursed is the man who trusts in man

And makes flesh his strength,

Whose heart departs from the

For he shall be like a shrub in the desert,

6 And shall not see when good comes,

But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness,

In a salt land which is not inhabited.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,

7 And whose hope is the LORD.

For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,

8 Which spreads out its roots by the river,

And will not fear when heat comes;

But its leaf will be green,

And will not be anxious in the year of drought,

Nor will cease from yielding fruit.

The Marriage Proposal

And so I met this woman from the Lord beautiful as they come and filled with virtue. No she didn’t steal my heart away, she slowly worked her way and shone through time like the way a diamond would cut through anything. I gave her my heart because she deserved it and even more. And so today she must know that I love her deeply and would remind her regularly. I’d do my best to nurture the fire I see.

But you see no matter how hard I try, I’d fall short, short of the one who loved you so much that He gave his life just for you. Interceding on your behalf even as we speak.

And so I’d learn from Him each and every day to give you my very best. To love you unconditionally and go all the way for you. You’re not yet perfect and neither am I but our constant gaze at Jesus would make sure we get there.

And when our children are born, I’d be the father they need. And I know that i may fall short. So I’m learning from my Father, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, better than the best father we could ever dream of.

Hold my hand and let’s go on this journey together. Tough as it may be, I will hold on to God and then to you that we may go on to inspire those who would come after.

It’s your Body

Ever blamed your body for not being to achieve stuff or those lofty dreams?

Too tall ? too short ? Too fair? Too dark? Not a great body?

Please read Isaiah 53:2.

Like a root from dry ground

No form or majesty, no swag

No beauty that he should be desired

Despised and rejected by men

Man of sorrows,

Acquainted with grief

He was despised and not esteemed

And yet He achieved so much with yet so little because of who He lived for; God

His name is Jesus. And if you’ve accepted him, then He lives inside of you and He can make your life worthwhile (if you let him).
If you haven’t, now is the time.

About Music

It is easy to confuse the music of religion as true worship because music elevates the mind and raises the heart to near rapture. Music can lift our feelings to a sense of ecstasy. Music has a purifying effect on us so that it is possible to fall into a happy and elevated state of mind with only a vague notion about God and imagine we are worshipping God when we’re doing nothing of the sort. We are simply enjoying an ecstatic moment God put in us that sin has not been able to kill

Excerpts from the book, Purpose of Man by AW Tozer

The Mind

Nothing describes the mind like the above image.

The mind is like that rope being pulled by two opposing forces; ying and yang, good and evil, wisdom and foolishness, humility and pride. And every action you take is a step closer to one of these forces. Stagnancy is a myth, nothing ever remains exactly the same. It either depreciates or appreciates sometimes too subtle to note.

The moment you stop learning, you start unlearning. As a matter of fact, while you’re learning, there are some things you unlearn in the process, talk less of when you choose not to learn.

You still have doubts about how the mind works? Check out this profound bible passage Rom 12:2

But be ye transformed by the renewal of your mind.

Renewal is defined as an act of renewing. It is a continuous process; never ending. The reason behind this passage is because of the fact that our minds are never stagnant. By default they it always tends to go left (the wrong way). It always tends to do the stupid and foolish things. So therefore it is important you continuously teach it and when you upgrade it with knowledge, you move towards the right (the right way).

How can you renew your mind you may ask?

They are just below;

  • Study God’s word; the Bible and act accordingly
  • Study helpful materials in your field
  • Learn from people’s experiences

Creating Miracles

“Rather than expect a Moses to come and part the red sea, we would build bridges and make our miracles”- Jean Liedkta

The saying above describes the average thinking pattern of the developed world. They are the proactive individuals, always seeking to find a solution to their problems.

A sharp contrast can be found in Africa where we pray to God to magically put food on our table (when we can) among other weird and unrealistic requests.

Let’s cast our minds backs to centuries ago;

While some were obsessed about going to the herbalist to view a 15 minutes trailer of their loved ones/enemies at untold costs, some decided to dedicate themselves to learning to ensure they could have an unlimited view of whoever they desired.

While some of us were content with holding vigils for the postman to safely deliver  their messages to loved ones, others were tired of the long time and decided to create a system that will make delivery of mails possible in seconds.

And presently, while some others are looking for ways to make lives and living better, others are praying endlessly (without adding commensurate action) that the world and their lives would be better.

While some are taking insurance on things that matter to them, others are saying that they don’t need it because God protects them.

You must have heard that history repeats itself. They are in for a shocker. Even though God can protect from all forms of harm, I think He expects that we take necessary actions in our interest instead of abdicating all our responsibility to him

We keep having unending vigils praying about the state of the nation. As if God would send another saviour to save us. No wonder we believed the saviour propaganda of the current president. Now we know better.
Newsflash: God would not send anyone to save us. We must task ourselves into being the saviours that this country and Africa as a whole so desperately needs.

I fear that there would be a lot of chastisement at judgement because God will ask why we achieved little to nothing when we were blessed with innumerable resources.

Yes I believe in the power of God, miracles and prayer but I also believe that locking your door and praying all day and night for food (when you can take a step in the right direction) will most likely leave you dead.

We have prayed enough. Can we begin building our bridges already?

How wild can your imagination go? This wild? “Jkdfsjujhvsidssvdd” or maybe this wild “,$:;$:3:+%-7$,:%(:-%(;7″.
Whichever way, my next piece will undoubtedly stretch it just a little bit more.

Now imagine you received an alert for a deposit made into your account. It reads something like ” You have just been credited with 1,000,000,000,000,000 (1 million billion)”. You think to yourself that the scammers are at it again and within the next 3 minutes a man calls you and greets you so respectfully that you think he’s got the wrong number. He identifies himself as your bank manager and gives you infallible proof. What would you do? What would be your most predominant thought? I bet with you that your predominant thought would be about the enormity of that money and its ability to wipe away all your financial issues.

Now pick up your bible. Take a closer look at it again. Do you know that your Bible as small as it is, is worth more than (1 million billion)? Do you also know that the bible has truth that can solve ALL your financial issues and even non financial?
So many promises, so many blessings, peace of mind, exceedingly great reward are all embedded in that book.

Be reminded that God’s word is ever powerful and cannot be outdated. Don’t allow activities and events crowd your mind so much so that you don’t meditate on these promises.

Remember treasure buried or unused is useless. Your bible is useless if you don’t dig up the treasures and utilize them.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom”- Colossians 3:16

True Life Story

One morning, I decided to dress casually thinking it was friday. After I had travelled a considerable amount of distance; a distance I could not return from, I began to notice that everyone was all dressed formally. I began to worry; could I have been wrong? What would be my excuse for dressing in such a manner? What story would suffice for such throwing the rules out the window? So I looked at my calendar sincerely hoping for a miracle….

And… IT WAS FRIDAY. I was right

Often times in our lives, we lose sight of what is right and wrong and it’s not because we intend for it to happen. It just happens!
The distractions we encounter are so numerous and there is an increasing need to travel life’s journey with an unfailing compass. I’ve chosen mine to be the infallible, unshakable, unrivalled Word of God.
